Sustrans (Sustainable Transport)
Sustrans have developed some of the best off-road cycling tracks, many converted from old railway lines, in the country. I use them in these routes and donate funds so that more such routes can be developed. They also need volunteers to maintain their paths.
Waterscape - the organisation responsible for most of our canals.
Waterscape advise that if you cycle on towpaths you get a permit. Two of these routes include towpaths and the permit is a free download. Just click on 'go cycling' and then on the permit hyperlink. A useful website in any case, which includes free routes and information on which towpaths you can legally cycle on.
